Imagine everything you love about cheeseburgers with traditional toppings combined with cheese and refrigerated biscuits. This Cheeseburger bake with biscuits is sure to please and makes great leftovers!
Do you have that one meal that is sure to please everyone in your household?
For us, that’s cheeseburgers.
Therefore, I get pretty creative on how to serve them to ensure those happy smiles and full bellies.
One example is my one dish cheeseburger skillet.
If you haven’t checked it out, here’s your chance. Because we are taking that and kicking it up a notch.
Cheeseburger Casserole
That one dish skillet transforms into an easy cheeseburger casserole.
And it, like my skillet, standouts from other recipes for one main reason:
It actually includes all the traditional toppings of a cheeseburger!
I’m talking everything from the hamburger seasoning to the condiments (ketchup, mustard) and the toppings like “lettuce,” tomato, onion, and pickles.
I find that lacking in most other cheeseburger casserole recipes. Often, they rely on canned tomato soups or cheese soups for flavor.
You won’t find that here.
Cheeseburger Casserole with biscuits
This mouthwatering dish combines that traditional taste of a cheeseburger with the taste of comfort.
Add extra ooey-gooey cheese to my one dish cheeseburger skillet and top with biscuit pieces. Bake until it bubbles up to golden brown perfection.
And with it being in convenient pan form, you can store right in the fridge. Simply bring out for mealtime, slice, reheat and enjoy!
Ingredients
- One Dish Cheeseburger Skillet
- 1 can of refrigerated biscuits
- Shredded Cheese
How to make:
- Spoon prepared cheeseburger skillet into lightly sprayed 9×13 baking dish
- Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded cheese
- Separate biscuits and cut each one into 8 pieces. Lay evenly in single layer over cheese layer
- Sprinkle remaining cheese over biscuits
- Bake
How do I serve this?
To serve, you can cut this into squares. Or try cutting into longer, skinnier pieces and enjoy cheeseburger “sticks”. Drizzle with ketchup on top or serve on side as dipping sauce.
Pair with it something easy. Afterall this bake has everything you need in it. My family loves applesauce (with cinnamon!) as a side dish.
You could also bring more color to the plate by serving
- orange sweet potato fries
- red cherry tomatoes
- purple/red grapes
Serving a side that you can eat with your fingers elicits that true burger experience 🙂
Though personally, I love a chilled, crisp side salad with honey mustard. Reminds me of a burger and salad combo at my favorite restaurant!!
What do I do with leftovers?
Just put the leftovers in the fridge as is. Seriously. Cover baking dish with airtight lid or saran wrap and it’s ready to take out for the next meal.
You can also cut into individual pieces and store in smaller airtight containers (these are phenomenal because you can also reheat in them too).
How do I reheat?
For leftovers, gently warm up desired amount in microwave (50% power) until warm.
You can also reheat slices in oven at 200 degrees for 5-10 minutes or until warm to crisp up those biscuits a bit more.
Tips/Tricks
- Use any size dish! If looking for a thicker bake, use a smaller pan (ex: 8×8)
- Bake time may vary depending on size of pan
- If using alternate size pan and you have extra biscuits leftover, bake them as directed on package. Store them for tomorrow’s breakfast or toss in the freezer until later.
- You can also top cheeseburger bake with additional condiments and veggies
Is this healthy?
I was always on a hunt for a good cheeseburger bake that had just a tad bit more nutrition (and cheeseburger taste!) than the popular internet ‘Pioneer Woman Cheeseburger Casserole’ but with the same comfort flare.
This recipe is that! A great balance of protein, veggies, flavor, color and convenience. So yes, this is healthy.
Oh, and my family gobbles up anything with biscuits. And you know what they say–fed is best 😉
