I tried everything to ignore it. Push it away. Tell myself this was not what I needed to do. Yet, no matter what, signs kept popping up. A desire burned within me. And to get very specific, God called me back. Multiple times.
Sometimes I still question it. And some days (ahem, most) have felt like an uphill battle. But overall, I’m filled with purpose, excitement and in an odd way, relief.
I’ve realized Brief and Balanced is a part of me. Motherhood is my calling, wellness is my passion and this is part of the plan.
So, I’ve decided to not question, and follow the lead.
Welcome to Brief and Balanced…2.0 🙂

If you were around when I started my blog in 2020, thanks for coming back. And if you’re new here, welcome.
What’s Different Today
Well, for one, me.
This past year has taken me on a journey of growth. And I’m not talking social media follower growth or anything like that. No, in fact, it’s quite opposite. I actually spent a part of this year by disconnecting (kind of funny considering my word for the year was/is connections, ha!).
But I have grown in so many ways.
It’s almost like so many things that felt displaced are now falling right into place. I think that’s what happens when we stop, pray and really seek direction.
Not only am I being transformed for the better (still a work in progress), so has my site. I’m proud of this new space. I’ve learned A LOT. And I hope you’ll find it very user friendly as it is now:
- Secure
- Self hosted (I own all my content!!)
- SEO optimized (well, work in progress…iykyk) and
- Includes easy to read recipe cards that you can save (pin) and Print
I’ve also decided to really speak wellness through my faith and the role motherhood.
This was a scary jump for me, but has been on my heart for so long.
Some Things Never Change
My desire to empower wellness still remains. In fact, we all need to prioritize health and wellness now more than ever. Even though living may have changed outside the home, inside we’re all frantically trying to keep up. To be honest, these “pandemic” days have a stark resemblance to that whirlwind season with a toddler and newborn.
And this is exactly why Brief and Balanced exists!
I strive to help you find simple wellness in the chaos.

Before I really dive into posting and creating this space, I have to recognize very important people that have been placed on my path.
With a Thankful Heart
Big shoutout to my husband. He has never stopped believing in me. EVER. He always says “go for it. What do you have to lose?” As a person who has always struggled with chasing dreams, the support like that in a partner is invaluable.
Oh, and thanks for making me a mom 😉
Thank you to Spark Media Concepts— Amy and Jennifer. Your expertise and guidance are top notch. And you’re both just wonderful, fun, motivating people. You got me through the technical skills, but you also taught so much more. Thanks for reminding me to believe. learn. pivot. And just to show up as myself.
Shoutout to Holly — An unexpected gift from this whole journey. I have to say I owe so much of picking this site/idea back up a few months ago and moving forward to you. Your encouragement, accountability and just genuine friendship are a bright spot in my day. Check her this amazing soul at Stronger Movement.
Thank you to fellow mom friend and talented artist, Tarah at Wildwood Photography. I’m grateful for the images you captured within the walls of our home this past spring. They give this blog life, but more importantly, will forever serve as a reminder of this life. And thank you for always cheering me on in this blog endeavor.
Thank you to Amanda, Lacy and many other friends and family that offered prayers, encouragement and support each day.
And most importantly, thank you, God, my father. You have blessed me with gifts and called me to serve my family. You have never once left my side on this journey of motherhood and through even the most challenging times, you’ve made yourself and your love known to me. You’ve blessed me with precious gifts , abilities, and talents. You have called me to share outwardly with others. I pray that through my words, others will be encouraged and supported in motherhood. I pray together we turn our hearts to you. Especially in those times of overwhelm. For you alone can guide true wellness and restore purpose back into the everyday ordinary. Amen.
