How to Freeze and Crumble Spinach
Freezing your spinach (without blanching!) is the easiest way to have greens on hand to add to smoothies, skillets, bakes and muffins. A great way to reduce waste or just crumble in extra nutrition.

Ziploc Freezer Bag
- 8-10 oz Bag of Spinach Raw
Freezing Unopened Fresh (Whole) Spinach Leaves in Bag
Lay bag of spinach from grocery store flat in freezer
When ready to use, open bag and immediately crumble by hand onto recipe
Place open bag inside freezer bag and promptly return to freezer
Freezing Fresh (Whole) Spinach leaves from Refrigerator
Discard any yucky leaves and place bag inside freezer bag
Squeeze out any air and lay bag flat in freezer
When ready to use, open bag and immediately crumble in hands in or onto recipe. Promptly return to freezer
Crumbling Frozen Spinach by Hand
Crumbling Frozen Spinach Leaves in Bag
Once spinach leaves are frozen, lay bag on flat surface and using hand "crush" leaves into small pieces, as desired.
Pour, scoop into recipe and promptly return crumbles to freezer.
